Science International Scholarship
If you are outstanding international students in undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programs in Science at UQ, you are welcome to apply for this scholarship. The study areas are:
- Agriculture and Environment,
- Architecture and Planning,
- Science and Mathematics
The value of this scholarship is $3,000 for 6 recipients. The duration is 1 year.
To be eligible for a Science International Scholarship at UQ, an applicant must:
- An international student in Australia.
- By the scholarships closing date, submit all documentation to meet conditions associated with an offer from UQ for an approved program.
- Demonstrate strong academic performance as part of the UQ program application.
- Be enrolling in a program administered by the UQ Faculty of Science; the program must be of more than one year’s duration (full time).
- Be enrolling in their first semester of study at UQ.
UQ must receive your program and scholarship applications by 5pm (AEST) on the scholarship closing date:
- 15 January for a Semester 1 (February) commencement
- 30 June for a Semester 2 (July) commencement
Following each closing date, applications will be considered through the following process:
- The Faculty of Science Associate Dean (Academic) (or nominee) will select scholarship recipients.
- Selection will be based on selection criteria shown below.
- Wherever possible, UQ will notify applicants of the outcome of their application within four weeks of the scholarship closing date.
- The decision of the Associate Dean (Academic) (or nominee) is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The scholarship cannot be deferred.
UQ will select winners based on:
- Academic performance (based on academic credentials submitted as part of UQ program application).
- Capacity to create change and contribute to science (based on the personal statement submitted as part of the Science International Scholarship application).
- UQ values diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from those who bring diversity to the university. The Faculty of Science also wishes to encourage gender balance in its admissions. The selection panel will take these goals into account.
International Scholarship in Conservation Biology
This scholarship is for international new students in Postgraduate program. The study areas are:
- Agriculture and Environment,
- Architecture and Planning,
- Science and Mathematics
To be eligible for a scholarship, the student must have received and accepted the unconditional offer of admission into the program and achieved an overall GPA greater than 5 in their undergraduate program (students with a GPA under 5 are ineligible for consideration in the scholarship round).
The value of this scholarship is $10,000 for 1 year duration.

International applicants are required to complete the School of Biological Sciences International Scholarship in Conservation Biology application form. The deadline for this application is 28 April in the year of commencement.
Selection criteria
- The eligible applicants will be ranked in order of merit based on academic performance and any other evidence that the Head of School considers to be relevant.
- To be eligible for a scholarship, the student must have received and accepted the unconditional offer of admission into the program and achieved an overall GPA greater than 5 in their undergraduate program (students with a GPA under 5 are ineligible for consideration in the scholarship round).
MBA Student Scholarship – International
This scholarship is for international new students in MBA program. 2 scholarships awardees will receive 25% tuition-fee waiver each for a maximum period of 24 months. If the scholarship recipient exceeds the 24 month timeframe they become solely responsible for the full tuition cost of any and all remaining courses after the date specified in the scholarship offer.
For scholarship holders who do not continue to meet all of the requirements of the program, the scholarship will be withdrawn and the student will not be eligible to re-apply for any MBA scholarship.

How to apply
- Complete the online form to apply.
- Meet the entry requirements to receive an unconditional offer for the MBA program (or GCBA/GDipBA articulation pathway to the MBA).
- Provide your CV and two written work-related references. These documents can be the same ones you use for your program application.
- Provide a personal statement in video format. Your video should be no more than 5 minutes long. Instructions to submit a video are provided in the application form.
In your video, tell the Scholarship Panel:
- about your motivations for choosing to study an MBA degree and your career aspirations
- about a time you overcame a professional or personal obstacle
- what have you done to make your work environment or your community a better place.
Scholarships are limited and awarded on a competitive basis. In their deliberations, the Scholarship Panel considers the applicants’:
- academic merit
- managerial experience
- community involvement
- personal statement responses.
Scholarship deferrals to future semesters are not permitted. Scholarships will not be extended beyond the 24-month timeframe. Applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of the scholarship selection process within two months of the closing date. No late applications will be considered. Not every scholarship will be awarded annually. All scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the MBA Director whose decision is final.
